'''Ponyo''' (ポニョ, ''ponyo'') is the titular character of ''[[Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea]]''. The daughter of a sea goddess and her once-human consort, she is a young goldfish who escapes from her father's fortress and encounters a human boy named [[Souske]]. In so doing, she comes to want to become human herself, and gains the power to transform into one thanks to having drunk a drop of Sousuke's blood. She displays a number of water-related abilities, such as being able to speak to sea creatures or walk on the surface of the water, as well as breathe in it, even in her human form. Ponyo seems to suffer from narcolepsy, apparently as a result of her transformation, and she seems to have greater difficulty retaining human form while using other abilities at the same time. Eventually, she becomes human after kissing Sousuke. Ponyo has a great love for ham.
